Salem's Music Ministry offers a variety of opportunities for every age level to lead others to worship God. 

Worship Ministry Team

There are several different ways you can serve on Salem’s Worship Ministry Team on Sunday mornings! Please contact Pastor Jeff Olds if you are interested in joining any of these areas.

Worship Team

Worship Team involves weekly rehearsals on Thursdays at 7:15 PM, rotational worship leadership ministry for Sunday worship services, and occasional special event ministry. The team consists of:
  • Praise Team: vocalists who lead worship on Sundays at 8:30 am and 11:00 am.
  • Praise Band: instrumentalists who lead worship on Sundays at 8:30 am and 11:00 am.
Ushers
Sunday worship services would not go smoothly without the help of our ushers. Ushers greet folks as they enter our Worship Center, hand out worship folders, assist with seating, and serve during offertory. Men and women who are members of Salem are welcome to work as ushers! Our ushers serve on a rotational basis.

Media Team
Tech Team members run audio and visual equipment during Sunday worship services and other special events. We provide training, no experience necessary! There are currently several needs, please contact Andrew Osborne to learn more:
  • Live-stream video and audio - Video volunteers will provide support to the Media Designer for cameras and graphics used to create the live-stream broadcast. Audio volunteers will control the audio which feeds the live-stream broadcast.
  • Video Projection - Volunteers will support Worship Services and ministry events by projecting lyrics, sermon slides, and other video content used during events in the Worship Center and/or Chapel. Volunteers will also assist pastors and ministry leaders in preparing their content for use with our equipment.
  • Audio Support - Volunteers will support Worship Services and ministry events by controlling audio levels for music and spoken parts during events in the Worship Center and/or Chapel. Volunteers will assist pastors and ministry leaders with any audio requirements needed for their events.
Worship Choir
The Worship Choir leads our congregation in Sunday worship services on a regular basis. The Worship Choir is made up of volunteers, no audition required. The Worship Choir rehearses on Wednesday evening at 7:30 in the Rehearsal Suite in Building D. Please contact Pastor Olds if you have any questions about the Worship Choir. The Choir typically breaks for summer and starts again in the fall.

Choirs and Praise Teams

Kids

Preschool Choir
Our Preschool Choir is for ages 4 (before August 31) through Pre-K. This choir is designed to allow the preschoolers to have a successful introduction to music. The Preschool Choir does not "perform" in worship, but shares what they learn with their parents in the classroom setting. The Preschool Choir meets on Sundays at 4:00 PM in Room C111.

Children’s Choir
The Children's Choirs are the next step in the musical development at Salem. There are three choirs for children: Melody Builders, Music Makers, and Young Musicians. Each choir meets on Sunday at 4:00 PM, September through May.
  • Melody Builders (K and 1st Grade) - Room C118
  • Music Makers (2nd and 3rd Grade) - Room C222
  • Young Musicians (4th and 5th Grade) - Chapel classroom 

Students

Student Choir
Student Choir is for students in 6th - 12th grade and provides Sunday morning worship leadership one Sunday of each month. The Student Choir rehearses on Sundays at 4:00 PM from September through May. We typically take at least one Choir Tour each year and occasionally do combo Music/Mission Tours through Salem's Student Ministry.

Student Praise Team
We also have opportunities for student instrumentalists to be involved in our Student Praise Team. The Student Praise Team is currently student-led (with supervision).

Adults

Senior Adult Choir
The Senior Adult Choir is for folks ages 60+ and occasionally leads worship, or performs for special events. They rehearse in the Chapel Classroom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month at 4:15 PM, from September through May. This choir is led by James Austin through the Senior Adult Ministry.

Handbells

Adult Handbells
The Adult Handbell Choir meets for rehearsal on Wednesdays at 6:15 PM from September through June. They play periodically during worship and for special events.

Orchestra

The book of Psalms reminds us that instruments have a special place in worship:
"Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!" Psalm 150:3-6

God has blessed Salem with many talented musicians. The Salem Orchestra provides an opportunity for these musicians to lead our congregation in praising God. Adults and students with four years of experience, and the ability to play level three music, are encouraged to join the Salem Orchestra. Brass, woodwind, string, and percussion players are all welcome. Rehearsal meet on an as needed basis.
